Getting treatments across the blood brain barrier has been one of the holy grails in Parkinson’s Disease research. The death and therefore lack of dopamine producing cells in the Substantia Nigra leads to the symptoms associated with PD, but treatment is not just a case of orally replacing the dopamine which is unable to cross the BBB. Is this latest discovery part way to the answer?
